The Who's Who Legal (WWL) Franchising 2023 guide was released recently on 17 November 2023, which according to WWL, "shines the spotlight on the most pre-eminent franchise lawyers around the world. They have been recommended for their experience advising franchisors and franchisees alike in complex matters relating to franchise agreements, system structuring, strategic expansion, IP matters and disputes".
This year the guide identified 584 leading franchise lawyers in 360 firms in 70 countries. Only 7 lawyers from the UAE made it onto the prestigious list including The Bench's Legal Director Joby Beretta. Joby returns to the WWL Franchise rankings, for the first time since leaving Dentons in 2016, in recognition for a run of high-profile UAE franchise deals including OCHE, Allo Beirut and Wagamama. He is also recommended by WWL in the categories of (i) Sport & Gaming and (ii) Telecoms, Media & Entertainment.
The Bench's franchise lawyers are also recognised as specialists in this field by the other leading legal directories such as Legal 500 Intellectual Property 2022, which noted that “The Bench is a boutique law firm that handles intellectual property infringement, franchising, hotel licence agreements, sponsorship agreements and M&A transactions for its predominantly TMT and hospitality-focused client base".
In addition to providing legal advice, The Bench is also uniquely positioned to provide experienced franchise lawyers on a secondment basis and/or recruit such lawyers for you. If we can help on any matters please contact joby@thebenchlaw.com.
