It is a sad day for the legal community. Trainees and newly qualified lawyers will soon be asking the question who's 'Who's Who Legal?' as the rebrand from WWL to 'Lexology Index' has taken place.
According to the Lexology website, "WWL (Soon to be Lexology Index) has been a well-known name in the industry for many years, known for providing best in-class research on the leading lawyers and experts around the world. Research-based rankings remain the same, and the research reports and profiles remain available on Lexology alongside the full range of resources and research tools on Lexology. The rebranding reflects our commitment to the continued evolution and improvement of Lexology Index’s research methodology and user experience. Most recently, we have introduced quantitative data to our research methodology, ensuring a rigorous evaluation framework. We have also simplified the user experience on Lexology, making it quicker and easier for in-house counsel to discover the right expert they need."
This year the research identified over 502 leading sports and gaming lawyers across 53 countries. Only 7 lawyers from the GCC have made it onto the prestigious list:
a new entry for Abdulla Musfir AL-Hayyan from International Legal Group in Kuwait;
an impressive trio (Ettore Mazzilli, Konstantinos Antoniou and Martin Cockburn) from MCA Sports Law located in Qatar; and
the dream team in the UAE (Steve Bainbridge from Greenberg Traurig, Jamie Ryder from Reed Smith and our very own Joby Beretta from The Bench).
